BANGKOK - Day ONE

On the day of departure, we got to the airport damn early, and had our final BK breakfast in Singapore before we come back again from Bangkok. Little did we know that we could even compare the BK from BKK to Singapore's.
Going onto the flight soon!

Lumix models!

We reached BKK! The first thing we did upon landing was to look for a toilet, and this is what we found.

Got choice one leh! Singapore don't have!

Then we got transported to our hotel after some confused waiting. The driver and the agent from the tour agency were late and we walked round the terminal looking for them =.=

At Diamond City Hotel.

These pictures are taken at the hallways of the hotel. Looks hella luxurious right. But this is a budget hotel, and the widening effects of the camera lenses made the place look more spacious on the picture than it actually is. The hotel is located in a residential area, but within walkable distance to a BTS station.

Once we checked into the rooms, we looked through the rooms and Peihan, Kiat and I immediately choped the biggest room. There were 2 Queen sized beds, and we pushed it together. It could fit 5 girls comfortably lor!

The other 2 rooms were rather small, and a little musty smelling and stuffy, due to renovation work that was going on at the hotel. I think they shut off those rooms temporarily. But other than that, all the rooms were fine. I was really relieved to find out that the hotel wasn't as bad as some of the online reviews were. Those really bad reviews were obviously done by spoilt kids who were looking for cheap but luxurious stays. Hullo? This is a budget hotel leh, you think you can get Marriot by paying peanuts arh?

The MBK shopping mall - About 5 times of Far East Plaza. Touristy picture (=

Room for BK comparison! Spot the PORK BURGER man! It's delicious! That's mostly what we had throughout the trip if we went to BK for meals.

After MBK, we cabbed down to Khaosan for more shopping, all 7 of us in ONE cab. That's Alex's hand and head, btw, haha. So exciting! Not allowed here leh!

Khaosan

Khaosan is a stretch of road that houses lots of stalls selling mostly cheap fashion apparel, there are Tshirts that are going for 100 baht, dresses that go for 180 baht, and sunglasses that go for 150 baht too. There are also stalls that sell strong liquor by the bucket that challenges you to "push your limit".

I like that picture. Editted in Photoshop using curves. Looks like a spy movie poster right! Where the angmoh in the middle is the main actor trying to look like an inconspicuous tourist. Muahah.

The bustle in Khaosan. GAY LORD. Gulliver's Travellers' Tavern. They hung a tuktuk outside the shop! We went in for dinner!

We were famished by this time. The pub was filled with expats drinking beer, and the music was really good. (: All the sports channels are on TV, and we were half distracted watching Dementieva playing Venus Williams on the TV right in our line of sight. We ordered super the a lot of dishes, plus a beer/cocktail each, and we only paid like 10bucks each. omg thats really going to make us fat if we keep on eating like that.

This is where we took our first group picture. We had 4 cameras, and they got 2 waiters to take them for us! Feels like some big event leh! Got 2 different angles. There, you can see each waiter in the other picture!

Heart-shaped carrot on heart shaped race. Cute! But we didn't dare to eat the carrot though. Doesn't look like it is freshly cut.
Best pineapple rice! You will never have this taste in Singapore, Thai Express or elsewhere! It's just like you will never ever have the best Xiaolongbao in Singapore's Crystal Jade or Dingtaifeng. After dinner, we walked down the street again, and we saw a charming man selling bangles.About as charming as Captain Jack Sparrow (: After Khaosan we tuktuk-ed to the the Night Plaza. All the lights flashed whenever the driver applied the brakes. The Night Plaza is just like our pasar malam. Multiplied by 10. It opens at around 11pm, and closes approximately at 3 am. The Plaza spans 3 streets, on both sides, and it sells whatever you can think of - food, clothes, bags, pets (including squirrels, rabbits, kittens and puppies). There were also cigarettes with various flavours - mint, orange, chocolate, cherry... But the tobacco was of terrible quality. The place was really hot and crammed, and by 1am plus, Mo, Dud and I were too tired to meet up with the rest at the said timing, so we cabbed back to the hotel. This was when we realised that Diamond City is so ulu-ated, most cab drivers didn't know how to get there without the map.

It was too hot and crammed and none of us felt like taking any more pictures there on that day, so we shall save them for another post. (= That's it for now folks! (:

ps:/ I went out today with cousins Qi and Zha.ny.ue. It's been a really long time since I last saw them! Shall blog about it with pictures after I'm done with the Thailand posts (:

pss:/ Blogger screwed up and I had to reblog. GRR.

  2. *Ahems* It's about the photographer too. =P

Yeah Lumix is good, but once you've used one of those damn expensive touch screens with really good specs (like the one my friend used, from Sony) you will never feel the same about Lumix again. Heheh.

    What do you use?
