SUAD '08

//Update: 29 Sept '08 - Hi people! Most of the pictures are temporarily taken off! Due to many protests and requests, I shall put up collages of the pictures when I have the time to make them (: //

On the 13th and 14th of September, NUS Dance Blast presented Dance Reflections: Shut Up and Dance - Monsters of Hip Hop. What a mouthful! Monsters of Hip Hop was an additional title the management insisted on, but none of us really liked it. Hence we still affectionately refer to it as SUAD. Hah.

This being my first actual concert, of course it holds special meaning for me. Whilst being in wushu had helped me gain some performing experience, dancing is really different. (Yes, even though my item was so kungfu like, don't snigger! It's hiphop in the woofoo dynasty ok! Match that :b) The almost daily practices that we had with Xiao's killer schedule made it especially memorable, and we got to know some peeps from NTU and some alumni, whom I might never ever get to know. (:

The nonstop practicing inevitably improves technique and stamina, and learning from different choreographers, I learnt new things about my own style as well. And dancing for a concert brings exercising to a whole new level, and with it comes the part about eating. If you want something that helps you digest the day's meals and widens your appetite for a supper later on, WHILE maybe losing weight, just dance.

Ok, maybe the calorie crunching part is incomparable to wushu. BUT wushu has high torment returns, while focusing on PT, so the less garang ones can just stick to dance, lotsa dance.

The whole experience is something which is indescribable in just words. Because some of the myriad number of pictures I've tried putting up on the blog previously and lagged some computers, I've taken most of them down temporarily. You can still click HERE and HERE for my SUAD pictures on Facebook. (:

Erm. That's my president. He owns a van, and his name is Alvan. (:
He knelt down in front of me later on, with a ray of afternoon sunlight that escaped from one of the dressing rooms shining on his shirt, and teh-ly asked if we would like some "White Stuff". He's high. I think it's the Red Bull. Please don't mind. Anyways, xinkule!

Dressing Room SE7EN!
Thanks much to my JC class for coming down to support!
sbEIGHT. <3With the sbEIGHT girls, and Krys who happens to be Kel's girlfriend. (:

Sorry I couldn't join you guys for the supper later. So sian I had to miss out on it. But thanks a lot guys, for coming down to UCC! Hi! That's my flower collection for Saturday night! There is a bunch of plush flowers clutched by a monkey named Xuefen amongst it. (though it cannot really be seen here leh)

Why is this significant? Because my dear Yan Zhen hasn't facebooked our picture, so I have to make use of this picture to mention you guys, my XCBs. Thanks for coming down to support! I was so glad that you guys were there, and Xf, that you came down on Sunday with your bf really meant a lot to me too. Hugs!
Momo, me. MARCUSSENG and Dardley KOW. Thanks for coming down too! Lijun expecially (: Even though I haven't gone for training for damn long, you helped me to settle the tickets and stuff. I'll treat you to supper after training one day!
Yao De, Danielle, Lijun, Julie, Corrine
NTU MJ, our guest performers! Kynneth. Thanks for coming down, and for your cheery yellow sunflower! Really happy to receive it. (:Sooozey (: Thanks so much for everything.
((:

Half the 8th comm! it was a BLAST!A few of us went to Fong Seng afterward.. where I had a banana prata, a plain prata, kopped Sooozey's maggi goreng, shared half an egg prata with him, plus a lime juice. Famished! And the occassion calls for a celebration as well!

Now, post DR, there are no practices at night, I feel quite empty. It's time to take up more dance classes! I would love to go back to wufang for training again, but my injured foot forbids me from doing the jumps. ): I shall go back after a report from the xrays i'd be taking on Wednesday.

In the meantime, I'll just train at home with the jackknives and the squats and feel contented with being so unfit. =.= Hiakhiaks.

BANGKOK - Day FIVE

And. Our bags are packed. We left for home on the 7th of July. (oh well, been lazy to blog about it)

Pretty lesportsacs!

Guess where the girls are.
That's why there are boys. Heheh.

Our last lunch in Bangkok. BK.
We were looking for the pork burger, but alas, there was none. BUT they agreed to put pork patties in the usual burgers, instead of the chicken/beef patties in Dudley's burger. This didn't taste half as good as the original pork burgers. ): and they cost more than the usual BK in the Bangkok outside of the airport.
We're going home! ):

I would really love to go Bangkok again, there is so much I haven't done, so much I haven't seen. Mo? Jo? Meow.

Loving the Lambos (:

Let me haolian abit! I took my girlfriends on my new boy's rides!

He got 2!

Ok I'm just kidding, no new boy, no new car. I have no idea who these belong to. Might belong some spoilt young punk, or some uncle with a big beer belly. But this is the dope man! I think they might belong to one family, or friends.

We saw them outside Hilton Hotel on Saturday, at Kai's bday meetup. The sun was blazing hot, but we just couldn't tear ourselves away from the cars. There was a beautiful Aston Martin in the middle of these 2 cars (dunno why) but everyone was just ignoring it. All cameras whipped out and were shooting away at these 2 simply gorgeous Lamborghinis. Cooler than Bruce Wayne's :P Which do you like?

There were many surprises that day, and this is just one of them. Will be back with more!

Day 4 of Being Stitched Up.

))):

Tumultuous arrival at TTSH A&E in the midst of training. I really shouldn't have gone that day, just as I had surmised earlier that day. Come true liao lor, orbiquack.

This is the operating theatre. My favourite number. I really must have a lot of affinity with this number. Like that also can. (=_='')

Narh, for those who asked to see the aftermath on the blog, here you go. I've already made it very small, so those who cannot withstand looking at something so alien on the human body, don't click and complain ok!

I could see my fats and muscle in the slash when the nurse injected local anesthesia to numb it. I have quite a bit of fats man.

I had asked the nurse to explain to me what I'm seeing, she called it "soft tissues", and muscle, the second layer that was substantially different. The latter was slightly wounded, but not badly, so it was a superficial cut. I was still some distance away from reaching the major blood vessels.

Next, she used tongs and cotton laden with antiseptic to prod at the wound, and red, diluted liquid poured out. I was actually quite amazed at the sight, rather than turned off. After all, being the klutz that I am, blood and bruises are nothing to me. *苦笑s* plus the fact that I couldn't feel a thing, I made use of this chance to see how stitches are done. But the stomach churning part came as I watched her stitch me up. I thought I would feel alright, but after the third stitch, I felt like throwing up the hot sandwich that BH had bought for me. It's the shock and the disgust of watching such a foreign action take place on a human I think, because watching her clean my wound was fine.

I've to dress the wound in gauze and water proof film most of the time, so that no one will be freaked out by it. Heheh.

Thanks for those who worried for me, and the 3 of you who stayed with me till so late. And thanks to Suze who found out for me after being shocked, how to take care of the wound (: I should be fine now, cos I can turn my wrist around without feeling pain. Thank goodness I didn't cut my wrist in a majorly important and rotational and pivotal position.

The nurse says I can remove the stitches after a week. And I heard it's gonna hurt damn badly. Eeek omg omg. Can I have some more local anesthesia? ):

BANGKOK - Day FOUR

Free and easy day! We went back to MBK to get what we had to get, and to do what we had not yet done. And this time we noticed a timer beside the traffic lights. We were wondering what took so long, for the cars to move during peak hour, we all thought it was a terrible jam, but NO, it's this.

When I saw this it was at around 180seconds, and there was a long queue forming up on the road. It must have started from 200plus seconds. Oh man. I love Singapore traffic. Not that bad, really.

More pork burger meals! This was our last pork burger from BK for the trip, and for a long time to come, I predict. Too bad it's not allowed in Singapore outlets ):

After that we went to do our respective shopping, and I had to get my hair permed. Permed! (: Cheap cheap (:

This is my hairdresser. He looks very familiar hor?
Highlights? ):
And for the people who asked how come I was online for such a substantial amount of time when I was in BKK, this is why. 3 hours of sitting at the chair.

The machine is damn scary btw, I felt like Dr. Octopus.
Curls!

We came across Cosfest in BKK, the very same weekend Singapore was having theirs at Downtown East. Daniel, are you reading this! (:

This band was really quite good.
Thai cosplayers.

She's really good.

Tuktuk chase!
Note Alex's hands. Both of those hands. LOL.

To Platinum for more shopping.
We split up for dinner that night. Kiat, Dard, Mo and I went back to the tavern for more good Thai food fare. But this time we were met with suspicious bouncers at the door, who asked us which country we came from! Huh!? It matters meh?

Post-dinner entertainment - Baby elephant! I was so amazed by her nose! It seems to have eyes and life of its own leh.

Late night, we all met at the Night Plaza again. The last time we went there, Dard, Mo and I left super early cos we were quite exhausted, we came back this time to get more cheap stuff, so that we won't regret leaving this place after only about 40 mins of walking. Heheh.

This time round we saw little animals for sale. There were squirrels, kittens, puppies, rabbits, guinea pigs, and this is just my favourite picture. Damn cute!
And we walked through a sea of fresh flowers for sale. There are no reasons not to give flowers to a girlfriend in BKK! Haha.

Good night! Thats it for now! Day 5 another day! (:
